devotion to the infant JESUS OF PRAGUE
The history of the Miraculous Infant Jesus of Prague dates back more than four hundred years.
A statue of The Holy Infant in the guise of a king was brought to Prague, Czechoslovakia, as a precious souvenir of her native country, Spain, by Maria Manriquez de Lara, who in 1556, married Vratislav Pernstyn, a Czech nobleman. According to an old legend, the statue was modeled by a pious friar, to whom its likeness had been revealed in a vision to him by The Holy Infant. The statue is eighteen inches tall and crafted of wax-coated wood. The left hand holds a miniature globe, surmounted by a cross, signifying the world-wide kingship of the Christ Child. The right hand is extended in blessing. The first two fingers are upraised to symbolize the two natures of Christ.
The statue of the Holy Infant later became the property of Maria’s daughter Polyxena. Polyxena was married to Duke Wilhelm de Rosenberg, First Lord of the Kingdom, Great Bourgrave of Prague and Knight of the Golden Fleece. After his death, Polyxena married a second time to Baron Zdenek Vojtech Popel de Lobkowitz, Great Chancellor of the Kingdom, Knight of the Golden Fleece, and Prince of the Holy Empire. In 1629, Polyxena resolved to make the statue of the Holy Infant available to all believers, and, consequently dedicated it to the Carmelite Monastery and the adjoining Church of Our Lady of Victories in Prague. She is said to have stated, “I bring you my dearest possession. Honor the Infant Jesus and you shall never want.” The friars soon acquired a devotion to The Infant Jesus and had recourse to Him in their needs. Many blessings, both material and spiritual, came to the monastery and the friars.
During this time, the Thirty Years War was in progress. Prague was under siege several times and finally was overcome and pillaged by the armies of Saxony in 1630. The Carmelites fled and the statue of The Holy Infant was thrown in a storage area behind the main altar of the Church of Our Lady of Victories by the mercenaries who occupied the monastery. Five years later, in 1635, after the Treaty of Prague, the Carmelites returned to Prague and to their monastery at Our Lady of Victories Church. The friars completely forgot about the statue of The Holy Infant and their devotion to The Holy Infant. In 1637, a Father Cyril, who had a great devotion to The Holy Infant, was sent back to the Carmelite Monastery in Prague (he had been one of those who fled in 1630). He found the statue behind the main altar. The hands of the statue had been broken off. It was at this time that the Infant is said to have appeared to Father Cyril and told him, “Have pity on Me, and I will have pity on you. Give Me My hands, and I will give you peace. The more you honor Me, the more I will bless you.” The last sentence has become the centerpiece of world-wide devotion to The Infant Jesus of Prague. Father Cyril, inspired by the Infant’s guidance, spent many futile attempts to raise the money for the repairs required for the statue of The Holy Infant. He eventually found benefactors who paid not only for the restoration of the statue, but for the construction of a chapel expressly intended for its veneration.
From that time to the present, devotion to The Divine Infant Jesus of Prague has continued and spread throughout the world.

Let Go and Let God.
As children bring their broken toys, With tears for us to mend; I brought my broken dreams to God Because he was my friend.
But then instead of leaving him in peace to work alone, I hung around and tried to help, with ways that were my own.
At last I snatched them back and cried"How could you be so slow?" "My child," He said, "What could I do? You never did let go..."
Don't Quit
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about, When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don't give up though the pace seems slow-- You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out-- The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far, So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-- It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.
PRAYERS TO THE INFANT CHILD OF PRAGUE
This Novena is also known as The Storm Novena or The Flying Novena
This Novena is also known as The Storm Novena or The Flying Novena. This is because you are "storming the heavens" with your prayers. When you use this Novena as a "Storm Novena" then you should say this Novena for 9 consecutive hours. So you would be reciting the Novena at the top of each hour for 9 consecutive hours. I personally prayed this Novena (back in 2000) to be relieved of a heavy financial burden. Five minutes after I completed the Novena, I went to the mailbox and there was an official letter relieving me of all financial responsibility of the debt. This Novena states, "Everywhere, I shall proclaim aloud Thy mercy and generosity, so that Thy great Love and the great deeds which Thou dost perform through this miraculous image may be acknowledged by all." Since I prayed these exact words, that is the exact reason why I tell everyone about this Novena. I said I would proclaim aloud and I do. Now I am sharing it with you. Keep in mind this Novena should be used for absolutely any urgent need.
Before beginning this Prayer, first read it over and absorb what you will be saying. Then gather your thoughts and choose the specific words that you will be using to ask for your special request or intention.
For a more enriching experience, go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
This Novena is amazing for urgent needs, especially financial assistance. This prayer really does work incredible miracles!!! I actually had a loan forgiven, in which I did not have to pay anything back after praying this Novena. No kidding!!!
INFANT BABY JESUS OF PRAGUE NOVENA aka The Storm Novena or The Flying Novena

Jesus, You said, "All that you ask of the Father in My name, He will grant you." Through the intercession of Mary, Your holy Mother, I humbly and urgently ask Your Father in Your name that my prayer be granted. (state your specific request or intention here!)
Jesus, You said. "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall not pass." Through the intercession of Mary, Your holy Mother, I feel confident that my prayer will be granted. (state your specific request or intention here!)
I prostrate myself before Thy Holy Image, O most gracious Infant Jesus, to offer thee my most fervant thanks for the blessings Thou hast bestowed upon me. I shall incessantly praise Thine ineffable mercy and confess that Thou alone art my God, my Helper and my Protector. Henceforth, my entire confidence shall be placed in Thee! Everywhere, I shall proclaim aloud Thy mercy and generosity, so that Thy great Love and the great deeds which Thou dost perform through this miraculous image may be acknowledged by all. May devotion to Thy Holy Infancy increase more and more in the hearts of all Christians, and may all who experience Thine assistance persevere with me in showing unceasing gratitude to Thy Most Holy Infancy, to which be praise and glory forever. Amen

The Holy Infant Jesus Chaplet
Sister Marguerite of the Blessed Sacrament (1619 - 1648) composed this chaplet. Jesus promised her that the faithful who recite it in memory of His Birth, His flight into Egypt and His Hidden Life at Nazareth would be assisted by Him in all their spiritual and temporal wants and would also gain purity of heart and innocence.
There are a special set of chaplet beads to say this chaplet.
Start by thinking about the goodness of the Infant Jesus. (There is a medal on the chaplet beads with the Infant Jesus' picture) and recite the following prayer.
Divine Infant Jesus, I adore Thy Cross and I accept all the crosses Thou will be pleased to send me. Adorable Trinity, I offer Thee for the glory of the Holy Name of God. all the adorations of the Sacred Heart of the Holy Infant Jesus.

Another Version of the Chaplet
Chaplet to the Infant Jesus
Jesus, Himself, revealed this chaplet to the Venerable Margaret of the Sacred Heart, a Discalced Carmelite nun who died on May 26, 1648, in the Carmel of Beaune, France. The Lord asked her to make it known to the faithful and promised special favors to all who recite it in memory of the mysteries of the Divine Infancy. The version that is posted here is taken from the Infant of Prague website in Czechoslovakia.
It is prayed in this way:
Recite: “And the Word was made flesh”.
Response: Recite the “Our Father…”
The above prayers are said three times.
Recite once : “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us”.
Response: Recite twelve“Hail Mary…”.
At the end, recite one “Glory Be to the Father, etc”
Note: The three Our Fathers are in honor of the three members of the Holy Family. The twelve Hail Mary’s are in memory of the Childhood of Our Lord.
The Stations of the Infant Jesus: The Way of Bethlehem
By St Alphonsus Maria de Liguori
(See Acknowledgements on Source for this Prayer)
V. Incline unto my aid, O God.
R. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory Be to the Father, etc.
Station I: The Son of God Becomes and Infant
O Jesus, born of Virgin Bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider that the Son of God, the Infinite Majesty, the Creator of the world, and Who has need of no one, became incarnate to save lost man by His sufferings, and was for nine months enclosed as a little Infant in the most chaste womb of Mary.
Affections: O most amiable Infant Jesus, God and Man, it was Thy burning love for me which urged Thee to do all this. I give Thee thanks; and I beseech Thee, by Thy Incarnation, to give me the grace to correspond to such goodness.
O my sweetest love, I am sorry that I have offended Thee. I desire to be always faithful I Thy service: enkindle in me Thy love; make me chaste and holy.
O Mary, grant that I may belong entirely to thee and to thy Son Jesus.
Hail Mary, etc. Glory Be, etc.
V. Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, which bore the Son of the Eternal Father.
R. And blessed are the breasts which gave suck to Christ our Lord.
O Jesus, ever sweetest Lord, And ever loving still; From this dear crib sweet drops of love into my heart distil.
Station II: Jesus is Born an Infant
O Jesus, born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider that Jesus at His birth has not even a wretched cabin, such as the poorest have; but is born in a cold cavern, and is laid in a manger upon straw.
Affections: O most holy Infant Jesus, I thank Thee for this; and I beseech Thee, by Thy most poor and bitter birth, grant that I may reap the fruits of Thy coming on this earth.
O my sweetest love, I am sorry that I have offended Thee. I desire to be always faithful in Thy service: enkindle in me Thy love; make me chaste and holy.
O Mary, grant that I may belong entirely to thee and to the Son Jesus. Hail Mary, etc.. Glory Be to the Father, etc..
Station III: Jesus is Suckled
O Jesus, born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider that God, Majesty itself, Who gives food to men and beasts, is born an Infant, and has recourse to Mary for His food; and He, through Whom not a sparrow hungers, is fed with a little milk.
Affections: O most lovely Infant, Thou takest milk, to be changed into that flesh which one day is to be bruised and torn for me. I thank Thee for this goodness; and I beseech Thee by this purest milk, grant me grace to act always with a pure intention of pleasing Thee, even as Thou didst ever act with the sole aim of obtaining my eternal happiness.
Station IV: Jesus is Wrapped in Swaddling-Clothes
O Jesus, born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider that the Infinite God, Whom the heavens cannot contain, made an Infant for us, vouchsafed to be wrapped by Mary in swaddling-clothes, and covered with poor rags. And thus the hands and feet of God by swathing bands are tied.
Affections: O gentlest Infant, Thou art tied in swathing-bands to deliver my soul from the chains of sin and hell. I thank Thee; grant by Thy holy humility, that, casting away every other bond, I may ever live bound and united to Thee.
O my sweetest love, I am sorry that I have offended Thee. I desire always to be faithful in Thy service: enkindle in me Thy love; make me chaste and holy.
O Mary, grant that I may belong entirely to thee and to thy Son Jesus. Hail Mary, etc.. Glory Be, etc..
Station V: Jesus is Circumcised
O Jesus, born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider that the Infant Jesus, eight days after His birth, showed Himself to be even then our Savior, by shedding for us His Divine Blood in the Circumcision.
Affections: O most merciful Infant God, I give Thee thanks; and I beseech The, by the pain which Thou didst feel, and by the Blood which Thou didst shed in Thy Circumcision, grant me grace and power to pluck out of my heart and to cast from it all earthly affections.
V. Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, which bore the Son of the Eternal Father.
R. And blessed are the breasts which gave suck to Christ our Lord.
Station VI: Jesus is Adored by the Magi
O Jesus, born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider that the Infant God is visited and adored by the Magi, who, though Gentiles, were enlightened by faith to acknowledge this Man-God for their Savior, and offered Him gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Affections: Most adorable Redeemer, I too have received from Thee this great gift of faith. I thank Thee for it; and I beseech Thee, by the glory of this Thy manifestation, grant that, like the Magi, I may correspond and be faithful to thy grace.
V. Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, which bore the Son of the Eternal Father.
R. And blessed are the breasts which gave suck to Christ our Lord.
Station VII: Jesus is Presented in the Temple
O Jesus, born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider that the Virgin Mary, forty days after the birth of the Infant Jesus, carries Him in Her arms to the Temple, and, offering Him to God for us, consents that by His Passion and death He should become our Redeemer.
Affections: O most loving Infant, for this one end didst Thou deliver thyself up to death to bestow on me eternal life. I give Thee thanks, and pray Thee, by this offering of thyself, to make me constantly ready to mortify and die to myself for the love of Thee.
V. Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, which bore the Son of the Eternal Father.
R. And blessed are the breasts which gave suck to Christ our Lord.
Station VIII: Jesus Flees into Egypt
O Jesus, born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider that Herod, fearing that Jesus would deprive him of his kingdom, plans His death; and therefore orders all the children of Bethlehem to be murdered. The most blessed Virgin, warned by an angel, takes the infant Jesus into Egypt.
Affections: O dearest Infant, what sufferings didst Thou not endure during this journey of a whole month and even longer, and that too in the depth of winter! How often wert Thou drenched with rain and stiffened with the cold! How many nights didst Thou pass in the open air! I thank Thee; and beseech Thee by Thy flight to give me strength to avoid all the dangers of eternal death.
V. Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, which bore the Son of the Eternal Father.
R. And blessed are the breasts which gave suck to Christ our Lord.
Station IX: Jesus with His Hands Freed from the Swaddling Clothes
O Jesus, born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider that the infant Jesus, some months after His birth, is still swathed by the Blessed Virgin, though His hands are freed from the swaddling clothes.
Affections: Most tender Infant, I imagine to myself that first moment when Thou didst join Thy little hands, and lifting Thy divine eyes to Heaven, didst intercede with the Eternal Father in my behalf. I give Thee thanks; and beseech The, to grant by the merits of Thy prayer that my prayers may be always pleasing and acceptable in Thy sight.
V. Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, which bore the Son of the Eternal Father.
R. And blessed are the breasts which gave suck to Christ our Lord.
Station X: Jesus Begins to Walk
O Jesus, born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider that the Infant Jesus, now a little older, begins to walk, and plans out in His mind the journeys He would make in the surrounding country of Judea to preach by His most holy words the way of salvation; and at the same time figures to Himself the road to Calvary, which He would tread in going to die for us.
Affections: O most loving Infant, I thank Thee, and beseech Thee by Thy first steps, grant me grace always to walk in the way which Thou has pointed out to me.
V. Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, which bore the Son of the Eternal Father.
R. And blessed are the breasts which gave suck to Christ our Lord.
Station XI: Jesus Sleeps
O Jesus, born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider that the Infant Jesus lies in a poor cradle in the little house of His Mother Mary, and takes His rest; and oftentimes, the bare ground serves Him as a bed.
Affections: O most amiable Infant, even while sleeping Thy Heart watches, and Thou wert loving me, and thinking upon me; and Thy Heart was consoled with the good which Thou hast bestowed, and would bestow upon me. I thank Thee; and pray Thee, by Thy loving slumbers, to give me grace to live forever in loving Thee, Who art the most loving God.
V. Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, which bore the Son of the Eternal Father.
R. And blessed are the breasts which gave suck to Christ our Lord.
Station XII: Jesus in the Form of a Fisher
O Jesus, born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to Thee,
Praise to the Father, infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally.
Consideration: Consider to your yourself the Infant Jesus represented in the form of a fisher, holding in His hands a rod, to which is attached the hook wherewith He will catch the hearts of men. When we think on His beauty, and on the love with which He seeks us, and on all that He has done to allure us to His love, we must needs consecrate our hearts to His service.
Affections: O Divine Infant, I give Thee thanks; and pray Thee by the zeal which Thou hast shown in endeavoring to draw my heart to Thee, give me the grace never to leave Thee more, and grant that, having continual recourse to Thee, I may become one with Thee and never separate me from Thee again.
V. Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, which bore the Son of the Eternal Father.
R. And blessed are the breasts which gave suck to Christ our Lord.
Concluding Prayer
I offer and present to Thee, O most sweet Infant Jesus, the steps which I have made to venerate the mysteries of Thy Infancy, and the homage which I have paid Thee. I pray Thee graciously to accept it, and to reward me with the virtues of childhood, chastity, humility and simplicity.
It is a joy and consolation to me when I behold Thee on the altar surrounded with so many lovely flowers. I ardently desire and wish to see my heart in like manner adorned with the flowers of all holy virtues, that Thou mayest find thy pleasure, and dwell in it; and may it be my lot to live in this world ever united to Thee, that, one with Thee, I may dwell in Thy presence in Heaven for all eternity.
Amen.

Consecration To The Holy Child Of Prague
O Divine Child Jesus, Only-Begotten Son Of The Father, You Are The True Light That Enlightens Everyone Coming Into This World. It Is Through You That I Am, It Is Through You That All Things Have Been Made, And Without You Nothing Would Be. It Is Therefore Just That I Devote Myself To You Without Reserve.
In Gratitude For All The Love With Which You Love Me, I Devote To You All The Love My Heart Is Capable Of. I Ardently Desire To Love You Still More, To Offer You A Heart Less Unworthy Of You. Accept This Ardent Desire, O Amiable Child-God, And Kindly Bless It.
You Have Suffered For Us And Have Borne Your Infirmities, In Order That We Might One Day Deserve To Be Associated With Your Eternal Happiness. I Want To Unite My Sufferings To Yours, So That You May Give Them Merit And They May Be Sanctified. As You Have Been Weeping For Me, Because Of My Sins, Help Me By Your Grace To Weep For Them Myself.
I Also Devote To You All My Joys. I Only Have The Ambition And The Will To Seek Those Pleasing To Your Service, By The Practise Of The Virtues Taught In The Mysteries Of Your Divine Childhood. I Beg You To Help Me By Your Grace To Acquire The Gentleness, The Humility, The Childlike Simplicity, The Filial Confidence And The Perfect Obedience, Of Which You Give Me Such A Splendid Example.
May I Progress In Holiness And One Day Possess The Rewards Promised In Heaven To Those Who Practise The Lessons Of Your Holy Childhood. Amen
Prayer Of The Holy Father Benedict Xvi To The Infant Jesus Of Prague
O My Lord Jesus,
We Gaze On You As A Baby
And Believe That You Are The Son Of God,
Who Became Man
In The Womb Of The Virgin Mary,
Through The Working Of The Holy Spirit.
Just As At Bethlehem,
We Too, With Mary, Joseph,
The Angels And The Shepherds,
Adore You And Acknowledge You
As Our Only Saviour.
You Became Poor
To Enrich Us With Your Poverty.
Grant That We May Never Forget The Poor
And All Those Who Suffer.
Protect Our Families,
Bless All The Children Of The World,
And Grant That The Love You Brought Us
May Always Reign Amongst Us
And Lead Us To A Happier Life.
Grant, O Jesus, That All
May Recognize The Truth Of Your Birth,
So That They May Know
That You Came To Bring
To The Whole Human Family
Light, Joy And Peace.
You Who Live And Reign
With God The Father
In The Unity Of The Holy Spirit,
One God, Forever And Ever.
Amen.

The Holy Infant's special care for children
During the depression years a travelling salesman came to my grandmother's house with an Infant of Prague statue which my grandmother purchased. My two uncles who were then small children came to the door.
The salesman told my uncles to say three Hail Marys every day in honour of the Infant of Prague and to ask the Infant Jesus of Prague to send them a few lollies every day. This sounded like a great offer because they rarely had any lollies during the depression. They followed his advice and a rich husband and wife purchased the hotel up the road. The wife called my uncles to the fence and gave them three lollies every day.
An encouragement to the growth of our family devotion to The Infant of Prague
A small incident which had a big influence on the development of our family devotion to The Holy Infant Jesus of Prague was when my mother won an Infant of Prague Statue in a competition in Kindergarten. She turned frequently to The Infant of Prague from then on in her needs and she still does. Her devotion has influenced myself and also my brothers and sisters and through us our children.
Help in financial need
On one occasion when we were children, my mother was quite short of money to pay pressing medical bills. She prayed to The Holy Infant Jesus of Prague and a few hours later a man knocked at our door and asked if he could buy some of the building wood which he saw in our yard. Mum had no real need for the wood so she sold it and the sale provided money to help pay the bills.
Protection from Robbery
A friend came down from Sydney to visit me and we discussed many things and then we said a prayer to the Infant of Prague. The prayer among other items asked the Infant of Prague to protect and bless our temporal goods from loss and misfortune. Sometime during my friend's visit my next door neighbour's house was broken into. Their house was robbed of many valuable items. Our house was spared this treatment on that occasion and my friend and I attributed this to the Infant of Prague. (Every house on the block had been robbed at some time and one of them was robbed twice, even the primary school across the road was robbed. We were never subjected to this.) I prayed the Infant of Prague chaplet regularly.
A surprise find
On another occasion when I had just finished saying the Infant of Prague Chaplet, my son went down to the back shed and sat on a old upholstered swivel chair which was marked for the tip. He put his hand up inside the material which surrounded the arm of the chair and pulled out a $20 note.
We were very surprised and then my daughter told us that her nana (my husband's mother who had lived with us until about the time of her death), had sometimes put money notes up the arm of the chair for what she probably thought was safe - keeping. She must have forgotten to remove this one.
Brief summary of other kinds of Favours granted to our family
Our family have received many other kinds of favours that are quite different from the ones out lined on the previous page. Some of the favours are to do with health, others are connected with catechetical work and many other kinds of needs and problems. The following favours are in relation to friends of mine. There are also some comments made by people on the Infant of Prague devotion.
Recovery of Debt
A young widow lent her friend about $3,000 to put down a deposit on a house. She promised to pay it back by a certain date. It was most important that she do so because the widowed lady needed it back to pay off some off her husband's funeral expenses. Unfortunately the due date passed and the money was not payed back The lady who had borrowed the money went out of her way to avoid meeting up with the widow.
The widow went to Singapore to visit some relatives and wrote back to Australia to her friend pleading with her to pay back the money. The letter was totally ignored. The situation dragged on. Another friend of the widow said that she would say an Infant of Prague eight hour novena to help the lady find a solution to the problem.
The next time that this friend went to see the widow before she could say that she had completed the novena, the widow said to her "I know that you have made the novena, about half of the debt has been paid back and the lady has promised to pay back the rest of the money in instalments as soon as she can....."
Financial assistance
A friend told me the following story: she was one of 11 children of a widowed mother. Her mother was hard - pressed to feed and clothe the family and to pay the bills. On one occasion when there was no money left to meet their needs, her mother prayed The Infant of Prague Chaplet and then she swept the rooms in her house. Some money was found under the carpet to meet their immediate needs.
Health Problem
Another lady related the following details to me some years ago.She had been suffering for some time from a serious problem with her leg (the exact nature of the problem I cannot now recall, however I think that it may have be pain). She prayed constantly about this to the Holy Infant of Prague.
One night she felt a young child's hand rubbing her troublesome leg. There was no one in the room with her. From then on her leg was fine and there was no more trouble. The lady showed her gratitude to The Holy Infant of Prague by giving out many leaflets on the devotion.
The Eight Hour Novena to The Holy Infant Jesus of Prague
A lady who was giving me a copy of the eight hour novena in my former parish commented to me about this devotion: " It would take a whole week to begin to tell you the answers to prayer in connection with this particular novena".
The eight hour novena is said at approximately the same time every hour until the novena is finished. (The prayer is said nine times during the eight hours.)
It is also known as the "The storm novena" because the person is "storming heaven" with their prayers. Another name it is known by is the "emergency novena". It is also known as the "Flying Novena".
The Storm Novena (before the Blessed Sacrament)
As a matter of interest there is another novena which is called "The Storm Novena". It consists of visiting the Blessed Sacrament nine times in the one day and praying there on your knees with your arms outstretched to pray for your petitions.
You can choose any prayers that you like to say at these visits. (Some suggestions of mine are any novena prayers to saints or to Our Lady, or some Our Fathers, Hail Marys and Glorias, or a decade of the Rosary at each visit). Anyway just choose the prayers that you wish to say and tell Our Lord the favours that you are asking Him for.
You always make a fervent Act of Contrition at the first of the nine visits. Full information on this particular novena and its history can be found in a little book entitled "The Storm Novena" It is written by a Capuchin Father of St. Benedict the Moor Mission. A search of the internet can locate for you places where this book is sold. I promise you that you will find the history of this novena very interesting. It is a novena with a reputation of "delivering the goods" in other words obtaining favours from Our Lord.
A comment on the devotion
A Volunteer helper in a Catholic library told me that her sister prays regularly to the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague and that her sister never ran in financial troubles and always did well in this area. The librarian's comments bear out the prophecy of Princess Polyxena to the Carmelites of Prague. "As long as you honour the Child Jesus you shall never be in need".

Our July 2011 Testimony to the Infant Jesus of Prague:
Last November 2010 I came across information about the many miracles regarding the miraculous image of the Infant Jesus of Prague, specifically regarding the many monetary miracles. I informed my husband that we needed to be looking for an Infant of Prague statue that we could place money under while saying the Novena Devotion Prayer for the many monetary concerns we had, specifically being able to provide for our family from our in town business. We had just found out that we were expecting another baby, which while wonderful was going to significantly change "the business plan" we had come up with for the next year or so. To my astonishment Jason replied that we already owned one! His mother Debbie had bought one for us in the past year and during one of her trips to visit they had placed it in our office, keeping it in its box because we didn't have room to display it at the time. (I had been busy nursing when they had unloaded her mini-van and had forgotten being told about the statue since I hadn't "seen" the statue.) Jason later displayed the statue and put a quarter underneath the statue. Just three weeks later the time share that we had been trying to sell for over a year sold and after closing costs we had the exact amount we needed to pay our ob-gyn fees for the new baby! (Jason now upgraded our quarter taped underneath the statue to a silver dollar and we moved it from the office to our family prayer altar in our living room.)
A month later I was put on bedrest for an infection, which also meant that we were receiving much higher medical bills....plus now we had to pay more payroll costs because I couldn't work at the store and Jason had to come home early to help with supper and the kids. (Normally January-August we both work more hours to conserve our "savings" to get us through until our busier time of year which is September-December.) I began praying in earnest for all our monetary needs, my health and the health of our baby, Elizabeth Grace-also known as "Libby." I also began praying to the Infant Jesus of Prague for all the intentions of anyone praying for us, offering up suffering for us, bringing us meals and the Eucharist, covering our adoration hour, companionship, cleaning and/or babysitting. Jason began praying rosaries for anyone who brought us a meal-and God provided SIX MONTHS of meals delivered about three times a week to us-many times from complete strangers and/or just acquaintances. In God's sense of humor He also began answering the last prayer on my list: the build-up of our farm for providing for our family's needs. I added that to our litany and two weeks later we were offered the Dexter cow that subsequently died. (When I began praying about the farm I meant AFTER the baby was born......but God obviously had different plans for the past six months.)
During my bedrest we were able to also sell the above ground swimming pool that had come with the house when we bought it four years ago. I was able to consign over 200 kid items this past spring, plus donate about nine more bags to Samaritan Ministries. (Downsizing our many possessions had been one of my goals for 2011 since October 2010....we still have a lot more to do, but this is a good start.) In May we discovered that Libby was breech, so I laid down upside down on a tilted ironing board off and on for a week while adding that prayer to our list to the Infant Jesus. After we had confirmed by ultrasound that Libby had flipped they stopped the medication on June 1st that had been stopping the contractions I had been experiencing for the entire pregnancy. I had been praying to the Infant Jesus specifically that "Libby would be born in the hospital right side up with Dr. Edwards (our ob) delivering as close to her due date of June 20th as possible." (My last two babies had been born "sunny side up and I wanted to avoid that pain if possible since I have all natural childbirth.) Libby was born on June 15th at 10:21pm after two weeks of on-again/off-again contractions. We made it to the hospital at 9:15pm and Dr. Edwards arrived around 10:15pm-just in time to deliver her and unwrap the umbilical cord that was wrapped around her neck FOUR times. (Earlier in the week our nine year old daughter Jessica admitted that she had put ALL her money-I believe it was around $21-under the statue so that Libby would be born BEFORE she and her brother Joey left for 18 days to stay in Wisconsin with their grandparents. Jessie had also been praying over and over again that Libby would be able to see, hear and not die via miscarriage.....the Infant Jesus of Prague answered all of Jessie's prayers.....no miscarriage, Libby can see and hear, and both Jessie and Joey were able to be "snuck in before visiting hours" to hold Libby before they boarded the airplane the morning of June 16th.
We are very thankful to the Infant Jesus of Prague for the safe arrival of baby Libby, for the monetary blessings in unexpected ways: farm animals, the providing of meals, the selling of our "extra possessions".......for the bonding that took place in our family during this bedrest period and the new skills learned-both Joey and Jessie learned how to do laundry and some new cooking skills....they also took care of their mommy and two toddler sisters on many days when they didn't feel like doing so-they definitely learned the "corporal works of mercy" right within their own family. God blessed us to be able to continue homeschooling throughout the illness so we won't have to play "catch up".......God granted Jason with good health and the grace to help "cover" my chores.....God granted us with good employees that willingly covered the extra hours at the store.....and once again God has blessed me with the miracle of surviving that which I didn't think I could survive....I have to admit there are many days that I wish I could have a "redo" on so that I could be more charitable and joyful towards my family members-but that is how life is unfortunately.....I am very thankful to be able to move again, even as I wait for test results to come back to find out if the infection is gone or not.....and even as I have to make myself "take it slowly" since I don't have the energy level or endurance that I had prior to my illness.....
Thank you Infant Jesus of Prague for all these things!!!!
To find out more about this miraculous statue see the official website of the original statue:
http://www.pragjesu.info/en/
(I find it very interesting that the original Infant Jesus of Prague statue is contained in the Our Lady of Victory Church in Prague....Jason has a devotion to Our Lady of Victory from having grown up just a couple of hours away from the Basilica of Our Lady of Victory....and in fact his birthday present this year from his mother and all of us was a statue of Our Lady of Victory, which is now on the opposite corner of the prayer altar from the Infant Jesus of Prague-and this was before I realized what the name of the church is where the original statue resides.)

A friend told me a few years ago to put a silver coin (doesn't matter what value) underneath a statue of the Child of Prague and your purse will never be empty. I did this two years ago (a british 20p coin) and I have to admit I've rarely been short of money since and I've been able to manage my money better. It's worth a try. I feel it has helped me. Also, if you have to go somewhere such as a wedding, Christening or whatever, and you want good weather for that day, put a statue outside your back door of the Child of Prague the night before, say a little prayer that the day will turn out fine and the Infant Jesus of Prague will grant it. My father (R.I.P.) used to do this for all of my family's occasions and the day would turn out beautiful! One of my nieces got married some years ago at the end of October, and the sun was splitting the stones, like a summer's day. She got married in England and anyone that knows the weather in Ireland or England, knows that, most certainly in October , it won't be like a summer's day. I do it now for family and friends and so far it has worked for me. Sometimes the day turns out more sunnier than others, but it has always been dry.
